In 1964, Dr. A. Louis Mariorenzi, a lifelong Rhode Island native, began practicing Orthopaedic Surgery in the Providence area. His practice became a corporation as soon as eligible in 1969. Throughout the 1960's and 70's, Dr. Louis Mariorenzi pioneered multiple new orthopaedic procedures. Specifically, he was the first to perform joint replacement surgery in Rhode Island. He was one of a few individuals in the country given special approval by the US FDA to perform this procedure. Additionally, he introduced and advanced arthroscopic surgery in Rhode Island during the late 1970's and early 80's.
